maizor's 17th

I'm just gonna jot down point a few significant events that occurred today:

1. Ate pasta which contained "tree nuts". This is probably the 2nd time it's happened. Anyway, the girl at the Uni/Mayo Cafe gave me a free serve of wedges after asking the 'chef' if the pasta contained nuts. Ohhh so now they mention it. Prior to that, Nhung had asked about the pasta and this was how it went (and surely enough, nothing about nuts was mentioned!!)
Nhung: Hey, what's that pasta? Is it nice?
Girl serving: Yup I always get it -it's really nice.. it's got like baby spinach and chicken.

2. Walked in the burning hot sun with Richard, Sharon and Nhung so that Sharon could donate blood. What a good Samaritan. Richard was sick.. he wasn't eligible to donate blood despite his eagerness D:

3. Sat in David Jones food court to cool ourselves down , where we met Akmal Saleh - that hilariously bald comedian who was on shows like Thank God You're Here (Nhung's extremely observant of her surroundings.. I hardly notice these things and to me he just looked like a local who was simply enjoying his lunch..)

4. Went to listen to that awesome guy in Rundle who plays the guitar like God.. so mesmerizing ahaha :P We also met Kevin G :D
----
me: *points at mai * it's her birthday today
tom ward (the guitar guy): oh really? *kisses mai on the head*
kevin G: *getting ready to take photo* ohhh.. nah that's too uh..
---
5. Went to Melody - Nhung and I went to buy plastic cups and plates and a few drinks at the convenience store. The Indian guy there was pretty funny though LOL

*Nhung and I leave a bottle of soda and plastic plates on the counter & walk around store*
-3 mins go by and we come back-
Nhung: Huh? Where'd the drink go?
Convenience store guy: What drink?
Me: ..and those cups..
Convenience store guy: What are you talking about? *smiles cheekily* Okay here you go :P

6. MY HEART WILL GO ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.
Cutting the cake with plastic knives = epic fail :(

7. *standing outside Melody* "It smells like someone purposely farted/shat here".. well no crap D:

8. We all take a photo with a giant woman in a sailor costume, before realising that a drunk man had crawled underneath her (and Chris) out of nowhere..

9. Helped a Vietnamese man to locate the place where you go to pay for a parking ticket. He was a very, very lost old man.

10. Sugar.. bowl

11. Another good Samaritan (sometimes) = Eugene, who drove Vancy, Mai, Vee and I back to my house

bad things happen to good people

just found out a family member of mine in melbourne was diagnosed with cancer and she hasn't got that long to live. sounds like phrase from a movie doesn't it? but nope. it's reality, and i never actually thought i would say those words, ever, but i did. thanks mum for breaking the news to me on chinese new years.

she was one of the really nice aunts too, oh and trust me, there's very few of them. even mai met her when we went to melbourne (which was like 3 years ago) and she made us those asian heart waffles and told us to go sell them when we go back to adelaide. aw, good times.

oddly enough, i donated money toward's vincent's "be shave and brave" cancer foundation just this morning. and now this. at that time i was like 'why not donate? it's for a good cause and plus vincent might even shave his eyebrows!' i also remember thinking that i would hate to have someone i know be diagnosed with cancer. woop-dee-doo. i am so much more glad that i've donated, since it might make that much of a difference to someone else before it's too late.

all in all, maybe there will be a miracle. i really would like to witness one. i guess i'll just have to keep on praying, wont i? :) must go melbourne soon. save money. save money.

chinese new yearrrr

Happy Chinese New Year / Valentine's Day, everybody ;D

I haven't blogged on here in a while.. you can say I've been you know.. studying 'hardcore' but honestly, I've been pretty slack T^T Since today is CNY I may as well get some work done so that I can get into that habit for the rest of the year.. (hopefully) ^__^

I met a whole bunch of new people yesterday. It's always good to meet new people just before New Years right? Well, we all went there a tad bit early and the lion dance didn't begin til at least 11:30. If only we kept our spot D:

There was absolutely no food whatsoever unless you're like a VIP like my new friend, Kevin. LOL! Other than that.. it was all chanting music and important senators giving their speeches. Mike Rann... Penny Wong etc. This might be handy for Geography :D

What we did after the fireworks??
It's supposedly disrespectful to be eating meat at the temple, so we drove to McDonald's and bought our own food, came back, and then ate outside :)

BEST PART OF THE DAY/EVENING:
*I am driving into McDonald's and am preparing to park*
Mai: Let's go into the drive-thru
Me: WHAT? *drives around*
Dominic N./Vancy /Vee: Nah it's better to go inside cos' it's easier to pay separately.
Me: WHAT? Yeah true. *drives around again*
(we basically drove around in circles)
----------------------------------------
*We walk towards the entrance*
Me: *pull* WHAT? it's closed!
Someone: It's meant to be open 24/7
*we read the sign*
Me: ohhh.. "closed for OHS reasons"
Someone: Let's walk through the drive-thru
Dominic: I don't know if that will work..
*Mai and Vee run towards the order machine*
Me: Hey Mai I think they only sense when cars come, not humans.
*Mai jumps on the car sensor*
(epic fail)
---------------------------------------
We had no choice but to go through the 'drive-thru.'

This was my first experience.. but when you're trying to order something and everyone just yells out all the things that they want, you just happen to repeat whatever they say.. even if it doesn't make sense? E.g.

Mai: 3 Happy Meals!
Vee: Medium fries
Mai: and medium fries!
Someone: 2 Small Big Macs!
Me: 2 Small Big Macs ..wait what? -.-

you got the hotel motel.. holiday inn

I just wanted to say, I have the worst walls and windows ever. They are totally non-soundproof and it's horrible - especially when you're trying to study for psychology for God's sake!!

When you're trying to focus, or in my situation, looking over lecture notes (>__>) the smallest things can be irritating. For example, an Indian man talking on the phone. Either he's kicked out of his house or is really incapable of keeping his voice level to a minimum. Seriously, why would one need to talk so loudly at 10:30 at night when the whole neighbourhood can hear? Perhaps it's just my very thin non-soundproof windows... but man.. think of the children.

"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart, so better things can fall together."
